About

Umptyscratch came about around 20 years ago when I was working at a call center. When a manager who worked for a company we contracted with came to visit, He would often add the adjective umptyscratchin’ to words but it really doesn’t mean anything. I decided that was a unique name and used it for my first personal website. I loved to use smiley faces at work and found a hippy smiley face logo to use for my website.

In 2020, I started to watch more You Tube videos and follow more channels that were involved in the collectible community. As the number of livestreams grew to a good selection daily, I made a text file in notepad to keep up with what was happening each day. I also decided that I wanted to know how many collectible channels are there on You Tube.

Towards the end of 2020, I found myself wondering what can I, being someone who does not have a You Tube channel, do to help the community to grow. This website became public on January 1, 2021 as a place where people can check out the channel directory to find new channels to follow and just look at the bottom of the main page to see what livestreams might be on for the day. I have a lot more ideas for the website and welcome input from the community. Everyday I spend time updating the site or looking for new content.

After finding a good deal on stickers, I learned that my logo was great for webpages but wouldn’t make good stickers. I was able to find a graphic artist who fixed my original logo to so I could make stickers. Mr. Collect It made a perfect copy of my logo but I told him we needed to add a little something to set it apart from the original and this was the result.

I also decided it was time to make my logo into more than a just a smiley face and this came about

I have given him the name, Chuck. He is named after a late friend of mine who at the age of 16 hitchhiked one summer from Steamboat Springs, Colorado to Haight-Ashbury, San Francisco, California. He met up with a group called The Diggers. He and I had many great conversations so it is quite appropriate to give my mascot the name Chuck
